Tutorial Showcase #1

DeviantART is a great place to find not only art but also some awesome tutorials. It doesn't matter if you are interested in photo manipulation or writing, usually there is a tutorial for that. But at the same time there are so many great tutorials outside of deviantART and most deviantART users might never find them unless someone shows these tutorials to them. So I'm happy to introduce you a new journal series called "Tutorial Showcase" which features some awesome tutorials outside of deviantART. We first started with this series in TutorialsForYou but we decided that you might want to see some tutorials as well. System is pretty simple. Every showcase journal showcases five tutorials from a specific category and this category changes with every new journal. There's no special placement, all of them are equal. So here we go!

Text Effects

I noticed that we are lacking text effects tutorials and decided that this time we will talk about it.




Tutsplus always amazes me with their awesome and creative tutorials and that's also probably the reason why they are one of the best tutorial sites at the moment. So it shouldn't be a surprise that our first text effect tutorial comes from there.
This tutorial over here teaches you how to create a awesome grass text effect that you could use in so many different projects.  Not only is it pretty to look at but it is also fun to make it and this effect alone can create a art piece that many would love to see.

Our next tutorial is also from tutsplus website and this time it is far from grass, in fact it teaches you how to make a text effect with fire. This effect has always interested me and over the years I have seen many great tutorials with fire. But while most of other tutorials teach you how to make a big fiery text then this one over here is a bit more elegant and more appropriate to different design projects.

Our third tutorial comes from a site called Tutorial9 and this tutorial is about softer effect than the previous one. It teaches you how to make a colorful glowing text. While it doesn't have that stand alone quality what other tutorials had, it still is a amazing tutorial. I can see myself adding this effect to different commercial designs. It is also in my opinion a bit simpler effect than the previous ones so if you aren't that good with photoshop yet then you might want to start here.

Believe it or not but our next tutorial comes from a site called, hmm..., tutsplus. This tutorial teaches you how to make a great glowing effect. So we have two tutorials in a row about glowing effect but actually they are totally different and it shows you that you can do so much with your text, often you just don't know how to. While the previous tutorial was a bit more straight forward then this tutorial changes your original font type completely and at the end gives you an amazing glowing effect. You won't even believe that it started from a normal font.

Our fifth and last tutorial for this time comes from abduzeedo. This tutorial isn't so much about changing the font itself but just giving it a awesome look. Idea behind this is pretty simple but the final look is just beautiful.
